What does the service offer?
The service offers psychological assessment including pre-surgery consultations, and psychological therapy. The therapy offered draws from a range of therapeutic approaches, most CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), CAT and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). The service works in a range of ways including indirect working e.g. MDT input, supervision and consultation to other cancer staff e.g. Clinical Nurse Specialists.

Teenagers and Young adults between the ages of 16-24yrs accessing the Oncology service at Christie with a cancer diagnosis.
What does the service offer?
Therapeutic support with mental health issues related to cancer diagnosis for inpatients and outpatients. Therapy may focus on issues such as low mood, anxiety, trauma. Therapeutic approaches include CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)., EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, CFT (Compassion Focused Therapy).
Neuropsychological assessment also available for CNS tumour patients where appropriate.

Psychosexual Support
Cancer and its treatments can affect your sexual wellbeing in many different ways. Changes to your body, fatigue, pain, hormonal shifts, and emotional stress can all influence how you feel about relationships and intimacy. It is common for people to experience reduced confidence, anxiety about physical changes, or difficulties with having sex function during or after treatment.
These experiences are normal, and you are not alone in them. Whether you are adjusting to changes during treatment, recovering after treatment, or supporting a partner, this section contains some of the support and guidance available to help you.

GMMH Psychosexual Therapy Service

Face to Face support currently based at the Rawnsley Building, Manchester. Online support via teams available.
Who can access the service?
The GMMH PST service is for patients who have a GP in the following areas: Manchester, Trafford, Bury, Tameside and Glossop, Middleton, Rochdale and Wigan (Post codes WN1-7)
Support for sexual issues:
- Erection difficulties
- Premature ejaculation
- Delayed ejaculation
- Genito pelvic pain/penetration disorder (previously known as vaginismus and dyspareunia)
- Anorgasmia
- Libido issues
