Dr Roger Prudham – Clinical Lead
Roger is currently Lead Cancer Clinician and Caldicott Guardian for the Northern Care Alliance (NCA). In addition, he is the Clinical Director of the Pennine NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP) and Deputy Chair of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority Information Board. He also leads the Rapid Diagnostic Service for the NCA.
Roger has been a Consultant Gastroenterologist since 2001 and has held a variety of clinical leadership roles over that time. He has led the BCSP team in the northern part of Greater Manchester since the inception of the programme in 2007 and still undertakes a regular colonoscopy list. He wishes to lead this Pathway Board to doing all that it can to reduce morbidity and mortality from colorectal cancer. This is something he has been committed to throughout his career and so it is a great honour and opportunity to hold this role.
Roger grew up and went to school in Greater Manchester but trained at Barts in London before returning North for his clinical training. He undertook training posts in Salford, North Manchester, and Oldham before commencing his consultant post in 2001.
Mr Chelliah Selvasekar, Deputy Clinical Lead
Mr Selvasekar is an experienced Consultant Colorectal & Robotic Surgeon and an Associate Medical Director at the Christie. He was recently appointed as the Deputy Clinical Lead for the Greater Manchester Cancer Colorectal Pathway Board. He is a honorary clinical professor at Edge Hill University.
Mr Selvasekar completed his surgical training in the North-west region of the UK and also did a clinical fellowship at Mayo Clinic in the USA. He has a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University College of London, where he was involved in clinical research.
His clinical practice is quite extensive, covering all aspects of colorectal surgery, including screening colonoscopies, minimal access surgery, and advanced surgeries like exenterative surgery and management for peritoneal diseases.
Mr Selvasekar is also interested in surgical education and is the Director of the Manchester Surgical Skills and Simulation Centre. He is a Council member at ALSGBI and is involved in recruiting International Medical Graduates into various surgical specialities. He is also the chair of the Specialist Surgical Board and Robotic Task Force at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
His clinical research work includes studying robotics and addressing inequalities in colorectal cancer management.

Rachel has been working in health and social care for all of her career to date, with spells in public health, early intervention and prevention.
In 2016, Rachel was seconded to the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership (GMHSCP) as one of the founding members of the population health transformation team.
Rachel moved into the role of Pathway Manager with Greater Manchester Cancer in August 2018 and is currently responsible for the colorectal and head and neck pathway and associated work programmes.
