Greater Manchester volunteers return to help NHS trial new cancer screening test

New “drop-in” x-ray service launches for Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale residents with on-going coughs in a bid to catch cancer early Friday 08 July 2022 NHS teams are encouraging members of the public with lingering chest symptoms to get them checked out via a new, no-appointment necessary service at their local hospital. Cancer Appointments are Continuing – Please Attend if you are asked to

Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance is reassuring people that it is still safe to attend cancer appointments. Cancer has been a priority throughout the pandemic and the NHS will continue to prioritise cancer services as we manage the Omicron wave. Cancer assessment and treatments will continue, and people are being urged to keep their appointments. Measures are in place to help protect patients and staff and it is important to not delay cancer treatment. Urgent cancer surgery is being prioritised, with COVID-protected areas helping to ensure patients continue to receive safe and timely operations for cancer.
