A GREATER MANCHESTER man who builds turbochargers for anything from fast cars to trucks and has thanked the NHS for rebuilding him after cancer. A new study involving Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance has opened in Manchester which could improve screening and early detection of lung cancer for high-risk Hodgkin lymphoma survivors, following a £1.3 million funding award. A new AI-tool which helps identify men who need prostate cancer treatment most urgently is being launched by Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance at hospitals in the region. Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance is one of five cancer alliances to share a £2.25 million cash injection announced by the Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) Healthcare to fund the scheme. A suite of films has been launched in Greater Manchester to support autistic women and women with a learning disability to access potentially life-saving cervical cancer screening. For the first time ever, more than 60% (60.2%) of cancers in Greater Manchester were diagnosed at an early stage over a 12-month rolling period (February 2024 – January 2025), placing us: Above the England average 9th out of 20 Cancer Alliances nationally 1st in the North West region Greater Manchester improved by 6.2% compared to a 3.7% increase across England.
