Known as the AIRPORT study, the project is using a tool developed by Harrison AI with Sectra Imaging.

The HSJ Awards showcase the passion, creativity, and commitment of those working in and alongside the NHS who are driving the future of health and social care forward.

Dr Bramley said: “The AIRPORT study is the first known real-world chest x-ray AI implementation to evaluate both clinical and cost-effectiveness in line with NICE guidance.

“It is supporting more rapid diagnosis, smarter CT referrals, improved cancer detection, and greater efficiency across the imaging system. We are delighted to have this work recognised.”

Paul Taylor, Head of Public Sector at Vodafone Business who sponsored the HSJ Awards, said: “The HSJ Awards shine a light on the remarkable people and organisations driving innovation and improvement across health and care. Witnessing the creativity, compassion, and collaboration within the NHS is truly inspiring.
