A cancer survivor from Manchester is speaking out about his experience of prostate cancer this Prostate Cancer Awareness Month to help encourage men to be aware of their risk. Gilbert Morgan, aged 59, from Moston, Manchester, was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2014 after he went for a PSA blood test. The NHS has teamed up with the Dianne Oxberry Trust and Target Ovarian Cancer to bring a new awareness roadshow to the streets of Greater Manchester - during Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month this March. The NHS in Greater Manchester is launching a new heartburn health check service in Greater Manchester to help save lives. The three-month project will see people at higher risk of developing oesophageal cancer – also known as cancer of the foodpipe - invited for a heartburn health check by their GP. The new heartburn health checks will be offered to eligible patients by invitation only on a mobile clinic. A Greater Manchester mum – who started a blog to help her cope with her cervical cancer treatment – is sharing her experience to encourage other women to be aware about the symptoms and seek help. A cervical cancer survivor from Greater Manchester is urging more women to come forward for their cervical screening appointments, as she thanks the test for saving her life. Laura Hope is encouraging people to go for their cervical screening (smear test) when invited. 2024 was a whirl wind year for Laura Hope from Oldham. More people in Bolton will be offered a free Lung Health Check in 2025. The free Lung Health Checks can help find lung cancer at an early stage when it is much more treatable and help save lives. They are for people who smoke or have smoked cigarettes or shisha and who are aged 55-74 years.
