Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance has today announced a new partnership with iPLATO, a Huma Company, which aims to help re-engage patients across Wigan and Salford in the Targeted Lung Health Check programme, focusing on early detection and awareness of lung cancer. The Targeted Lung Health Check programme aims to reduce the lung cancer mortality rates by ensuring early diagnosis and treatment. Using iPLATO’s Population Health service, the programme will look to improve uptake amongst the eligible population. The Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance has appointed a new Medical Director, Miss Susannah Penney. Susannah is a consultant head, neck and thyroid surgeon at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, a position she has held since 2012. She has also held the post of Associate Medical Director for the Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance since 2018, following three years as clinical lead for the head and neck cancer pathway. A new campaign is being launched by the NHS in Greater Manchester to raise awareness of the link between heartburn, indigestion and gullet cancer.
