Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance has teamed up with OUTPatients, the UK’s LGBTIQ+ Cancer Charity, to develop a new communication campaign to raise awareness about NHS Lung Cancer Screening.

Research shows LGBTIQ+ people are more likely to smoke, and therefore need lung cancer screening. However, the community are also more likely to avoid seeking medical attention, even when unwell. OUTPatients led focus groups with community members from across Greater Manchester to help inform the new campaign.

The result is a thoughtful creative which sparks interest and reduces the fear around going for your Lung Health Check. Launching this June during Pride Month, it will see eye-catching designs at prominent places around Manchester City Centre’s gay village including drink mats, pub washrooms posters and out of home bus stop advertising.  Posters, flyers and information will also be taken out to some of the Pride events in Greater Manchester this summer starting with Salford Pride on 13 June.

A4 posters and A5 flyers will be available soon. Contact gmcancer.comms@nhs.net if you can use some within Greater Manchester.
