Innovation Award

This award celebrates those who have jumped head-first into the world of innovation and have found meaningful ways to embed this in our services to improve the lives of our patients. These innovations could involve the use of digital technology, data, or other new practices set to improve our cancer services. This award seeks to highlight teams that are successfully embracing the opportunities that come from advances in medical technology, data, and connectivity.

  • A clear description of the innovative change and how the team or project has set to use this to improve services
  • Measurable improvements to the quality or effectiveness of the service/project
  • Evidence of meaningful patient / user involvement to shape the project
  • The team or project must be working within cancer services for the Greater Manchester population

Project Summary

Clearly demonstrate the benefits of the initiative on patient outcomes and/or experience using a mix of qualitative and quantitative data, including patient and/or staff testimonials. Please indicate if any data shared is unsuitable to be published externally (on our website).

If there are additional benefits to the NHS as a result of this project, please also describe these in your entry. (400 words max)

Working collaboratively

Collaboration is something we are proud of in Greater Manchester and we regularly see a range of teams and organisations working together on projects. Explain who was involved in your work and how a team approach was used to the benefit of the project. You should also include information on involvement with people affected by cancer or members of the public and how they have been able to help to shape your project. (400 words max)

Inequalities

Health inequalities exist throughout our population and reducing these are a critical element to improve the health and cancer outcomes of our population. Discuss the considerations given to reducing inequality as part of your team/project, along with the inequalities identified and how the project has addressed these. (400 words max)

Include any other comments, information or testimonials that you feel are relevant to your submission that will help the judges to understand why you should be considered for this award. (200 words max)

What Happens Next?

The closing date for entries is Friday 16th February.

Judging will take place during March, and if you are shortlisted you will be notified by Friday 22nd March.

Shortlisted teams will be required to make someone available to be filmed for a 1 minute film talking about their entry. This film will be available on our website, and will be used by patient and carer representatives to vote for the Patients Choice Award. Filming will take place on Tuesday 26th and Wednesday 27th March at a convenient location.

Each shortlisted team will be invited to the Awards Ceremony on the evening of 14th May 2024, where the winners will be announced.  The ceremony will take place at the Hilton Deansgate, Manchester.
