Early Career Researcher Award

Greater Manchester is home to cutting-edge cancer research and this award celebrates individuals at the start of their academic journey. We’re looking to celebrate the achievements of our early career researchers and how their work is turning scientific discoveries into improvements and impact for patients and the public.

For the purposes of this award, we are defining Early Career Researcher as someone who meets either of the following criteria:

  • Someone who is within eight years of their PhD award (this is from the time of the PhD ‘viva’ oral test), or equivalent professional training
  • Someone within six years of their first academic appointment (the first full or part time paid employment contract that lists research or teaching as their primary function)

Our judges are looking for:

  • An overview of the major achievements made by this individual including those outside a traditional academic environment.
  • Evidence of working with patients or members of the public to help to shape the project
  • Evidence of how this research could provide a measurable impact for patients
  • The individual must be working within cancer research facilities with the majority of researchers or leads based in Greater Manchester

This is the entry form for the Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance Early Career Researcher Award 2024. Please use this space to tell our judges about the person / team that you are entering.

Please get straight to the point - remember our judges will have a lot to read!
