Dr Daniel Anderson

Dr Daniel Anderson is a consultant psychiatrist, group analyst, and psychodynamic psychotherapist working in the NHS at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, Manchester, in the Department of Psycho-oncology, and in private practice.
In addition to his clinical role, Dan is the clinical lead for psycho-oncology in Greater Manchester, trust lead for year four medical student education, and trust lead for postgraduate educational and professional supervision.
Dan is a health assessor and medical supervisor for the General Medical Council. Dan has previously worked as the medical director of The Retreat hospital in York and has held various substantive and honorary lecturer positions. He is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Dan is also an honorary research fellow in the Division of Cancer Sciences at the University of Manchester and researches PTSD and cancer, the use of psychedelics in cancer-related distress, the psychological impact of Covid-19, and medical education in oncology. Dan completed his PhD at the University of Manchester’s Institute of Education and consequently authored the book The Body of the Group: Sexuality and Gender in Group Analysis. He is the chair of the charity and psychotherapy training organisation Group Analysis North and is a fellow of The Royal Society of Arts.

Michelle is a Pathway Manager for Psychological Support & Mental Health, Gynaecology, Colorectal, Haematology and Sarcoma Pathway Boards.  Michelle was previously one of the Macmillan User Involvement Managers within the Team supporting the development and implementation of Greater Manchester Cancer’s user involvement and patient experience work programme.

Michelle has a background in Healthcare Project Management.  She has delivered several improvement projects within healthcare including collaboratives at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, the Salford Integrated Care Programme for older people, NHS QUEST collaboratives, the MAHSC IS4Ac programme which was delivered by Haelo and as part of the National QIPP (Quality, Innovation, Productivity and Prevention) Safe care Programme.  Michelle is passionate about providing the best care for the local population and her long-term goal is to keep striving for health and social care improvement.
