Dr Padraig McDonnell

Dr Pádraig McDonnell was appointed as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in Oncology at Wythenshawe Hospital in 2009. Since 2015 he has also led on the delivery of specialist physical health psychological services across Manchester (provided by Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust).

Previously Pádraig had chaired the Psychological Support group under the former Greater Manchester and East Cheshire cancer network and he has ensured the group continued to meet in the intervening years to maintain a focus on how best to ensure people affected by cancer had their psychological and emotional needs addressed.

More recently, the need to create a specialist Pathway Board for Psychological Support and Mental Health led to Greater Manchester Cancer establishing this board in 2017 and Pádraig will act as the Pathway Director for the board following appointment at interview in May 2017.
