Hello my name is Claire Goldrick. I started working at GM Cancer in January 2019 as a Pathway Manager. It is my job to support the Clinical leads for the pathways I work on and facilitate the work of the pathway boards to improve the cancer pathway for patients in Greater Manchester.
The pathway boards consist of representatives from each Trust and each discipline across GM including service user representatives, consultants, nurses, commissioners, Allied Health Professionals and Primary Care. Our Breast Board provides the clinical voice for Breast Cancer in our area and supports GM Cancer to provide clinical, operational and transformational leadership across GM to improve and sustain the quality and patient experience of our cancer patients.
The pathway boards have an official meeting at least four times a year. The agenda focuses on the aims and objectives of the board which may include screening, waiting time performance, palliative care, follow-up, research and any issues that need to be addressed. The board meetings are an excellent opportunity for our colleagues across GM to escalate issues, network and to share best practice and celebrate successes.
In September we welcomed a new Clinical Lead Clare Garnsey to the Breast Pathway Board and one of the first things we are working on is contributing towards Breast Cancer Awareness Month. All of the members of our board have contributed to the information we will be sharing over the next week and we hope that you find it helpful and informative. I am very excited to see what we can achieve over the next 12 months!
